The Therapeutic & Recreational Riding Center, Inc.
"A special ride for those with special needs"
Cancellation & Weather Policies
Cancellations
Notice of cancellation is required at least 24 hours in advance by calling the Center at 410-489-5100 or e-mailing Cindy.SmithTRRC@gmail.com.
In the event of a no-show, no call, lesson charge will be applied. (Hardship/medical absenteeism situations may receive special exception).
Students taking private lessons are permitted one excused absence per month (calling 24 hours in advance).
Winter Weather
Depending on the severity of the weather, TRRC WILL EMPLOY A "LIBERAL LEAVE" TO THOSE WHO DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE TRAVELING IN THE WEATHER CONDITIONS. If you are unsure, check the office answering machine for updated messages before heading out - 410-489-5100. We try to notify everyone by e-mail, “robocall” and messages on the office phone. Please check your phone, your email or your cell phone before calling us about closings.
Stormy Weather
LIGHTNING AND THUNDER CLOSE US DOWN. The Director monitors the National Weather Service. At the first sound of thunder or sight of lightning, ALL riders will dismount and horses will be stabled. The National Weather Service recommends staying inside for at least 15-30 minutes after the last thunderclap. This means that a full half hour is needed before allowing riders to get back on their horses. Therapy sessions will continue in the therapy room and riding lessons will continue in the rider support building or main barn aisle. If it appears that the storm will not pass, all lessons will be canceled.
We now have a Liberal Leave Policy for those who choose not to ride in warmer weather.
